In uncertain times we CAN know a sure certainty. In faithless times we can have a faith that is real. When we live in a world with fake news and fraudsters we can find real, everlasting truth.
We have a haven, a place of safe keeping and protection. We have an infinite and eternal security that is as strong and powerful as the one who made us, who saved us, and who holds us.
Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
Our greatest comfort is to know that God is in control. We are sustained by God. He is the eternal God. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.
His faithfulness is everlasting. He is thy refuge, it says. And underneath are the everlasting arms.
Psalms 91:1-16 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Abide in this place. Stay there. Pray there. We can stay in His presence. It speaks of divine protection. He overshadows us. He is almighty.
He will shelter us. Here is a guaranteed place of rest, of peace, of safety. He is our fortress and our stronghold. You are safe.
His truth shall be thy shield. God is with us. His presence is with us. Let us not forget to pray.
God says I will rescue you. I will protect you. I will answer you. I will be with you in trouble and times of affliction and distress. I will deliver you and bring you to safety. I will honour you and make you strong. He says, I will satisfy you. I will save you…
His arms will always be under you. Salvation is sure.
I was reflecting on salvation and really the truth that our only action in the transaction is reception. Salvation is a gift. It is given by grace. In other words we don’t deserve it. We receive it by faith.
Our rest is in God. When we learn how to swim we can lie back on the water and let the buoyancy of the water carry us. Our trust is not in man. Certainly not in ourselves. Not in our works.
The arm of flesh will fail you. Yet, underneath are the everlasting arms.
