Amos 8:11. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.
We should care about the Word of God. It’s a matter of spiritual life and death. The real Bible and real Bible preaching is becoming as scarce as bread in a time of famine.
It’s a post-modern, post truth world. There is a sustained, unrelenting attack on the Word of God. The postmodernist believes there is no absolute written truth… nothing can be known with certainty.
People are denying the sufficiency of scripture. They turn aside to supposed new revelations. The church of Philadelphia was commended because they had kept God’s Word (Revelation 3:8).
Satan’s Policy of Evil has, at its very base, an attack on the Holy Word of God. Back at Eden, satan questioned the Word of God. Eve altered the words God spoke by deleting and adding to it. God’s
The Bible was given by Inspiration – written for us. And we receive it by Illumination – the words speak to our soul.
May we recognise the famine that is coming. Realise the great importance of the Word of God. Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
